Copper Traces in Time: Hold
Copper Traces in Time: Hold is a response to the unprecedented times we currently live in through storytelling and the creation of hand held copper discs.

The surface of each copper disc is etched with images from RMIT student and staff experiences during the outbreak of COVID-19. These images were collaged together, etched into copper plate and printed on paper using copper pigment, before the plate was cut into discs.

Research has shown that copper surfaces have antimicrobial properties, with COVID-19 no longer detected on them after only four hours. With the virus still active in the community, the copper discs with their protective properties serve as a hand held reminder to act with care. Once the virus has abated the discs will be markers of this time which has drastically changed the way people live and will continue to affect our future.
The exhibition took place from
26th March to 1st April 2021
at The Salon at The Capitol
as part of Melbourne Design Week 2021.
