Throughout the pandemic last year, I had reoccurring dreams about being trapped within an isolated space. I felt stuck and lonely within my continuous dreams about being in quarantine. I dreamt about people glued to their phones and who could not look away from them. The light was too addicting. Perhaps it had something to do with my constant need for social media, which made up for the lack of physical connection.

My name is Emily. I'm studying for a Bachelor of Fine arts, while my practice is Printmaking. I use a mixture of digital and traditional print within my art, which is often described as surreal and explores themes of identity, connection and religion. During the 2020 lockdown, my focus was escapism, developing that concept around the limitations of the restrictions within that year. Creating pieces that people can relate to from being isolated and having no physical touch, to feeling caged and helpless.
