Space Madness

2020

Nikon D5600, digital collage on Photoshop

This is a digital photographic collage which superimposes two sides of the artist's bedroom together against one 2D surface. It is a record of her living space as an artist, student and daughter. Through the cluttered details which are scattered within the photograph, there is an insight into Stephanie's desires and how she spent her time during the COVID-19 lockdown. There are constant reminders of the outside world brought into a lonely and single person living environment; 'I wanted to capture my bedroom's characteristics which had become ever prominent and overbearing to me whilst spending a significant amount of time in my room during the pandemic'. Although this piece is very personal - there is a relatability and familiarity for those who became isolated during the lockdown.

Studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) at RMIT, Stephanie has already won a number of awards including the Claire Edgoose Award for Excellence in Art in 2018. For over a decade, Stephanie has sought inspiration from a range of sources, developing both her technical skills and individual style. She spends her time painting and drawing stylised artworks in oil, acrylic, spray paints, calligraphy pens and other mediums, including photographic pieces. Stephanie has created large scale public works, commercialised pop art projects along with fine pieces inspired by her love of the natural environment and an exploration of human expression.
